Hawai'i

Honeymoon in Hawaii

I can honestly say that Hawai'i is one of my favorite places on earth. I was fortunate enough to live on the Big Island for two amazing years and there's no place like it in the world...and I've visited more than a few!

You can't go wrong with any of the islands but if I were planning my dream honeymoon I'd make time to visit as many islands as possible as they all have something unique to offer.

Oahu is the heart of Hawaii. Waikiki Beach, the historic Pearl Harbor, and the stunning North Shore are just a few of the island's attractions. It's a unique blend of urban & natural wonders.

Maui is often referred to as the "Valley Isle" and boasts diverse landscapes, from the lush Hana rainforest to the lunar-like landscapes of Haleakalā National Park. It's a haven for adventure seekers, popular with celebrities and the perfect place for couples looking for romance.

The Big Island is the largest of the Hawaiian Islands and possibly the most diverse. Witness the fiery spectacle of active volcanoes in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, stargaze from the top of Mauna Kea, visit Waipio Valley or even catch a rodeo in Waimea.

Known as the "Garden Isle," Kauai's dramatic cliffs, emerald valleys, and cascading waterfalls set the stage for breathtaking hikes and outdoor adventures. The Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon are absolute must-sees.

Tulum, Mexico

Honeymoon in Tulum Mexico

Just a 90-minute drive from the Cancun airport, Tulum offers a totally unique honeymoon experience. You'll love the white sand beaches that Mexico is known for but you can also visit ancient Mayan ruins, spend a day hiking through the jungle and floating down freshwater canals made by the Mayans at the Sian Ka'an Bioshpere Reserve or visiting The Gran Cenote where you and your love can explore caves, caverns and a cenote connected by wooden boardwalks.

You'll also find plenty of luxury resorts in Tulum. Spend a day in the spa pampering yourselves or head to early morning yoga at one of the many yoga studios. If you enjoy partying until the early hours of the morning, Tulum boasts a vibrant nightlife as well.

Best Time of Year to Travel: November - April (Snag the best prices in November & December)

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Honeymoon in Bora Bora

I don't know too many brides who haven't at least thought about honeymooning in Bora Bora. With their luxury hotels featuring overwater bungalows, crystal clear water, mountains and a coral reef it's no wonder this is an extremely popular honeymoon destination.

The first Americans to visit Bora Bora were actually servicemen stationed in French Polynesia during World War II. In 1961 Hotel Bora Bora opened with the worlds first overwater Bungalow and now almost every luxury resort offers them. You'll need a decent budget to spend your honeymoon in this tropical paradise but we can promise it'll be worth every penny. There's plenty to do in Bora Bora including catamaran cruises, snorkeling, diving, hiking and cycling but if you're dreaming of days jam-packed with activities you may want to keep looking. If romance is at the top of your list you're looking at the right place!

Turks & Caicos

Honeymoon in Turks and Caicos

Possibly the most beautiful place in the Caribbean, Turks & Caicos is a British territory, located about 600 miles from Miami and north of the Dominican Republic.

The world class resorts, beautiful beaches and a plethora of outdoor activities including snorkeling, whale watching, exploring the Conch Bar Caves, kayaking the Chalk Sound National Park, boat tours to surrounding islands and so much more. You'll also find plenty of options for shopping in Providenciales, where most of the luxury resorts are also located.

The nightlife isn't as lively as many other locales so if that's high on your priority list, you may want to look elsewhere.

Price Range for 7 Nights with Flights: $3,000.00 - $28,000.00+

Travel Time: 2 Hours (Miami) - 6 Hours (New York)- 9 - 12 Hours (Los Angeles)

Florida Keys

Honeymoon in the Florida Keys

If you're looking for a tropical vacation while staying in the United States, the Florida Keys may be exactly what you're looking for. As a Florida native I may be a little biased but I can't get enough of the Keys. With so many islands to choose from your honeymoon options are truly limitless but we suggest you start with these seven: Key West, Little Torch Key, Big Pine Key, Key Largo, Long Key, Duck Key, and Marathon. You can choose to spend your whole honeymoon in one location or spend your time island-hopping. If you have the time, we highly recommend flying into Miami and driving the rest of the way. You'll probably save some money on flights and the drive is amazing.

Price Range for 7 Nights with Flights: $4,000.00 - $12,000.00+ (these will vary based on where you fly and what Key(s) you visit)

Flight Times to Key West: 5 Hours (New Yorks)- 12 Hours (Los Angeles)

Flight Times to Miami: 3 Hours (New Yorks)- 5 Hours (Los Angeles)

Best Time of Year to Travel: November - April (Keep in mind the hurricane season runs from June - November but hurricanes are most likely between September & October

Can't Decide? How About a Cruise!

Honeymoon Cruise

If you'd like to see more than just one destination a cruise may be the honeymoon option for you. No matter what island(s) or coastal destinations you want to visit, there's probably a cruise ship that will take you there! And there's a cruise line for every personality. For honeymooners I generally recommend Virgin Voyages because all of their sailings are adults-only or Celebrity. Celebrity is not adults-only but generally attracts a more mature clientele and is more luxury focused than cruise lines like Royal Caribbean or Carnival.
